AN ACT

Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the

2

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in administration of

3

justice, further providing for contempt powers of magisterial

4

district judges.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

6

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 4137(a)(2) of Title 42 of the

8

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

9

§ 4137.  Contempt powers of magisterial district judges.

10

(a)  General rule.-- A magisterial district judge shall have

11

the power to issue attachments and impose summary punishments

12

for criminal contempts of a magisterial district judge court in

13

the following cases:

(2)  Failure of a person to obey lawful process in the

16

nature of a subpoena or fingerprint order issued by a

17

magisterial district judge.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
