AN ACT

Designating U.S. Route 30 from its intersection with State Route

462 from its intersection with U.S. Route 30 in West

<--

Manchester Township, York County, to the point where it meets

the Susquehanna River in Hellam State Route 24 in

<--

Springettsbury Township, York County, as the Korean War

Veterans Memorial Highway.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway.

(a)  Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as

follows:

(1)  The Korean War was waged from June of 1950 to July

of 1953 and ended with a negotiated armistice. Officially,

the United States' presence in Korea was a police action.

(2)  One million five hundred thousand Americans served

in the Korean War. Nearly 37,000 Americans died in the

conflict and 103,000 others were wounded. Approximately 8,000

Americans are still listed as missing in action.

(b)  Designation.--U.S. Route 30 State Route 462 from its

intersection with State Route 462 U.S. Route 30 in West

<--

Manchester Township, York County, to the point where it meets

the Susquehanna River in Hellam State Route 24 in Springettsbury 

<--

Township, York County, is designated as the Korean War Veterans

Memorial Highway.

(c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and

maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to

traffic in both directions.

Section 2.  Effective date.

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
