AN ACT

Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An

2

act relating to the public school system, including certain

3

provisions applicable as well to private and parochial

4

schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the

5

laws relating thereto," in vocational education, further

6

providing for the definition of "vocational agricultural

7

education."

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

9

hereby enacts as follows:

10

Section 1.  Section 1801(4) of the act of March 10, 1949

11

(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is

12

amended to read:

Section 1801.  Definitions.--The following words and phrases

14

as used in this article shall, unless a different meaning is

15

plainly required by the context, have the following meanings:

(4)  "Vocational agricultural education" shall mean that form

of vocational education which [fits for the occupations

2

connected with the tillage of the soil, the care of domestic

3

animals, forestry, and other wage-earning or productive work on

4

the farm] provides students with the skills and academics needed

to enter and and knowledge needed to prepare an individual to

6

enter or advance in careers in the food, agriculture and natural

7

resources sciences, such as production agriculture, agribusiness

8

management and marketing, agricultural research, energy systems,

9

agricultural mechanics and engineering, food science, processing

10

and retailing, banking, agricultural education, forestry,

11

horticulture, landscaping, rural-urban interfacing and other

12

related fields.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
