HOUSE BILL

AN ACT

Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An

act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public

welfare laws of the Commonwealth," providing for the care of

the body of a resident who dies while resident in a facility.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  The act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known

as the Public Welfare Code, is amended by adding a section to

read:

Section 1057.4.  Care of Deceased Residents.--Each assisted

living facility, nursing home and personal care home with

twenty-one or more beds for residents shall provide a room,

separate and apart from the residential section of the facility,

in which to move and hold the body of a person who dies within

the facility until mortuary services can be obtained.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
