| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Repealing the act of May 15, 1945 (P.L.545, No.215), entitled |
2 | "An act relating to the rate of pay for policemen, firemen |
3 | and park guards in cities of the first class; providing for a |
4 | system whereby policemen, firemen and park guards of cities |
5 | of the first class who shall enter, or who shall have |
6 | entered, the military service during the present hostilities |
7 | shall be paid upon honorable discharge and re-entry into the |
8 | police, fire or park guard service at the same rate of pay as |
9 | if they had actually served on the police force, fire bureau |
10 | or park guard force of cities of the first class during the |
11 | years, months or days they were in the military service." |
12 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
13 | hereby enacts as follows: |
14 | Section 1. The act of May 15, 1945 (P.L.545, No.215), |
15 | entitled "An act relating to the rate of pay for policemen, |
16 | firemen and park guards in cities of the first class; providing |
17 | for a system whereby policemen, firemen and park guards of |
18 | cities of the first class who shall enter, or who shall have |
19 | entered, the military service during the present hostilities |
20 | shall be paid upon honorable discharge and re-entry into the |
21 | police, fire or park guard service at the same rate of pay as if |

6 | guards in cities of the first class; providing for a system |
7 | whereby policemen, firemen and park guards of cities of the |
8 | first class who shall enter, or who shall have entered, the |
9 | military service during the present hostilities shall be paid |
10 | upon honorable discharge and re-entry into the police, fire |
11 | or park guard service at the same rate of pay as if they had |
12 | actually served on the police force, fire bureau or park |
13 | guard force of cities of the first class during the years, |
14 | months or days they were in the military service. |
15 | Section 1. In order that policemen, firemen and park guards |
16 | of cities of the first class, who, after their appointment to |
17 | such position, have entered the armed forces of the United |
18 | States during the present hostilities shall not be put to a |
19 | disadvantage because of such service after the effective date of |
20 | this act; the rate of pay accorded to such policemen, firemen or |
21 | park guards in cities of the first class shall be the same at |
22 | the time of their honorable discharge from the armed services |
23 | and their re-entry into the police, fire or park guard service |
24 | as it would have been had such policemen, firemen or park guards |
25 | in the cities of the first class been continuously employed as |
26 | policemen, firemen or park guards for the days, months or years |
27 | they served in the armed forces of the United States. |
28 | Section 2. The provisions of this act shall become effective |
29 | immediately upon final enactment.] |
30 | Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
