AN ACT

Amending the act of January 24, 1966 (1965 P.L.1527, No.535),

2

entitled "An act providing for and regulating the licensing

3

of landscape architects; fixing fees; creating the State

4

Board of Landscape Architects; imposing powers and duties on

5

the Department of State, the Commissioner of Professional and

6

Occupational Affairs and the board; and prescribing unlawful

7

acts and penalties," further providing for application for

8

license and qualifications and experience requirements of

9

applicants and for continuing education.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

11

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 6(c) of the act of January 24, 1966 (1965

13

P.L.1527, No.535), known as the Landscape Architects'

14

Registration Law, amended March 7, 1984 (P.L.129, No.24), is

15

amended to read:

Section 6.  Application for License; Qualifications and

17

Experience Requirements of Applicants.--* * *

18

(c)  The board may register and license without written

19

examination [(i)] a person who holds an unexpired license or

20

certification of registration issued by proper authority of

21

another state or foreign country in which the requirements and

qualifications to engage in the practice of landscape

2

architecture were at the time of initial issuance of a license

3

or certificate of registration at least equal to the standards

4

of this Commonwealth existing at that time[; or (ii) an

5

applicant who has ten years of active experience as a landscape

6

architect and is a graduate of an approved institution, or who

7

has fifteen years of active experience even though not a

8

graduate of an approved institution, if in the opinion of the

9

board the experience is of such grade and character as to fit

10

the person to assume responsible charge of work involved in the

11

practice of landscape architecture].

Section 2.  Section 9.1(b) of the act, added December 7, 1994

13

(P.L.774, No.107), is amended to read:

Section 9.1.  Continuing Education Required.--* * *

15

(b)  Beginning with the license period designated by

16

[regulation] the board, each person licensed under this act

17

shall be required to obtain [ten] twenty-four hours of mandatory

18

continuing education during each two-year license period. A

19

licensed landscape architect who wishes to activate a license

20

which has been placed on inactive status shall be required to

21

document [ten] twenty-four hours of continuing education.

Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
