A RESOLUTION 1 Congratulating C. F. Martin & Company upon the 175th anniversary 2 of its founding, and commending it for its many positive 3 globally conscious environmental and business practices. 4 WHEREAS, C. F. Martin & Company guitars are the most well- 5 known and played guitars in the world; and 6 WHEREAS, C. F. Martin & Company has a rich family and 7 business history throughout the world and within this 8 Commonwealth; and 9 WHEREAS, In 1839, one of the founders and architects of C. F. 10 Martin Guitars, Christian Frederick Martin, Sr., moved his 11 family and business to Nazareth, Pennsylvania; and 12 WHEREAS, In 1859, the famous North Street factory was built 13 in Nazareth; and 14 WHEREAS, In 2004, C. F. Martin & Company built guitar number 15 one million; and 16 WHEREAS, Currently, 550 employees work at the Nazareth 17 facility; and 18 WHEREAS, C. F. Martin & Company is not only the premier
1 manufacturer of guitars but has demonstrated global corporate 2 citizenship in multiple ways; and 3 WHEREAS, The company supports the Greenpeace Music Wood 4 Campaign to encourage sustainable logging practices of Sitka 5 spruce, a wood species that is used to produce the soundboard 6 and braces on acoustic guitars; and 7 WHEREAS, The company's goal is to preserve the world's 8 rainforests for future generations; therefore be it 9 RESOLVED, That the Senate congratulate C. F. Martin & Company 10 on its 175th anniversary of manufacturing in the United States; 11 and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That the Senate commend C. F.
