        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, JUNE 28, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the Borough of Millersburg, Dauphin County, on the
     2     bicentennial anniversary of its founding.

     3     WHEREAS, The Borough of Millersburg, Dauphin County, was
     4  founded in 1807 by Daniel Miller, formerly of Lancaster; and
     5     WHEREAS, Daniel Miller purchased land where the Wiconisco
     6  Creek meets the Susquehanna River to fulfill his dream of
     7  building a town along the banks of the river; and
     8     WHEREAS, The Borough of Millersburg was ideally located for
     9  commerce because of its access to the Susquehanna River, the
    10  Wiconisco Canal and the Lykens Valley Railroad and its proximity
    11  to rich anthracite coal beds and fertile farmland; and
    12     WHEREAS, The Borough of Millersburg flourished as a rural
    13  farming, manufacturing and transportation center; and
    14     WHEREAS, The Borough of Millersburg is celebrating its
    15  bicentennial anniversary with an eight-day celebration from
    16  August 27 through September 3, 2007; and
    17     WHEREAS, The Borough of Millersburg is marking its


     1  bicentennial anniversary with events at the popular Ned Smith
     2  Nature Center and the historic Millersburg Ferry and with
     3  exhibits, tours, parades and other activities to celebrate
     4  Millersburg's past and present; therefore be it
     5     RESOLVED, That the Senate honor the Borough of Millersburg,
     6  Dauphin County, on the bicentennial anniversary of its founding;
     7  and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be delivered to the
     9  Millersburg Bicentennial Committee.
