A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing the United Parcel Service of America, Inc., on its
2 centennial celebration and honoring its contributions to the
3 citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
4 WHEREAS, On August 28, 2007, the United Parcel Service of
5 America, Inc., (UPS) is celebrating its 100th anniversary; and
6 WHEREAS, UPS has served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 since 1938 and today employs more than 16,000 employees and
8 operates 40 facilities across this State; and
9 WHEREAS, Each day, 136,000 citizens of the Commonwealth of
10 Pennsylvania utilize the express delivery and specialized
11 transportation and logistics services UPS provides; and
12 WHEREAS, UPS delivers more than 800,000 packages every day to
13 customers across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
14 WHEREAS, The services UPS provides connect the people,
15 communities and businesses of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
16 to more than 200 countries through its expansive transportation
17 network that truly synchronizes global commerce; and
18 WHEREAS, UPS has contributed more than $9 million to
1 philanthropic endeavors in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
2 since 1995, reflecting the company's emphasis on community
3 service and citizenship; and
4 WHEREAS, UPS will continue to provide a substantial economic
5 impact to the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and
6 focus on cultivating deep partnerships with the communities it
7 serves; therefore be it
8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 recognize the United Parcel Service of America, Inc., on the
10 occasion of its 100th anniversary and honor its contributions to
11 the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
