AN ACT
1 Designating the scenic view on ADJACENT TO State Route 40 in <--
2 Wharton Township, Fayette County, as the "Blue Star Point
3 Lookout."
4 The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:
5 (1) The Blue Star Memorial began in 1945 to honor the
6 men and women serving in the Armed Forces during World War
7 II. The name was chosen for the star on flags displayed in
8 homes and businesses denoting a family member serving.
9 (2) The Blue Star Memorial Program now honors all men
10 and women who have served, are serving or will serve in the
11 Armed Forces of the United States.
12 (3) In June of 2007, the Great Meadows Garden Club of
13 Farmington in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of
14 Transportation erected a Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker at
15 the scenic view ON STATE ROUTE 9202. <--
16 (4) The scenic view designation honors the commitment,
17 service and sacrifice to those who have served, are serving
1 or will serve in the Armed Forces of the United States.
2 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
3 hereby enacts as follows:
4 Section 1. Blue Star Point Lookout.
5 (a) Designation.--The scenic view on ADJACENT TO State Route <--
6 40 in Wharton Township, Fayette County, is designated and shall
7 be known as the "Blue Star Point Lookout."
8 (b) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
9 maintain signs which shall display the name of the scenic view
10 designated in subsection (a) at the entrance to the scenic view
11 ON STATE ROUTE 9202. <--
12 Section 2. Effective date.
13 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
