SENATE BILL

                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating the scenic view on State Route 40 in Wharton
     2     Township, Fayette County, as the "Blue Star Point Lookout."

     3     The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:
     4         (1)  The Blue Star Memorial began in 1945 to honor the
     5     men and women serving in the Armed Forces during World War
     6     II. The name was chosen for the star on flags displayed in
     7     homes and businesses denoting a family member serving.
     8         (2)  The Blue Star Memorial Program now honors all men
     9     and women who have served, are serving or will serve in the
    10     Armed Forces of the United States.
    11         (3)  In June of 2007, the Great Meadows Garden Club of
    12     Farmington in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of
    13     Transportation erected a Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker at
    14     the scenic view.
    15         (4)  The scenic view designation honors the commitment,
    16     service and sacrifice to those who have served, are serving
    17     or will serve in the Armed Forces of the United States.


     1     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     2  hereby enacts as follows:
     3  Section 1.  Blue Star Point Lookout.
     4     (a)  Designation.--The scenic view on State Route 40 in
     5  Wharton Township, Fayette County, is designated and shall be
     6  known as the "Blue Star Point Lookout."
     7     (b)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
     8  maintain signs which shall display the name of the scenic view
     9  designated in subsection (a) at the entrance to the scenic view.
    10  Section 2.  Effective date.
    11     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
