                                     AN ACT

     1  Providing for the donation of blood by certain persons 16 years
     2     of age or older; and making a related repeal.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5  Section 1.  Donation of blood by certain minors.
     6     A person who is 17 years of age or older shall be eligible to
     7  donate blood in a voluntary and noncompensatory blood program
     8  without the permission of a parent or guardian. The consent is
     9  not subject to later disaffirmance because of minority. A person
    10  who is at least 16 years of age but less than 17 years of age
    11  may donate blood in a voluntary and noncompensatory blood
    12  collection program if the person obtains written permission from
    13  the person's parent or guardian.
    14  Section 2.  Repeal.
    15     (a)  Declaration.--The General Assembly declares that the
    16  repeal under subsection (b) is necessary to effectuate this act.
    17     (b)  Action.--The act of December 9, 1969 (P.L.333, No.141),


     1  entitled "An act enabling certain minors' consent to donate
     2  blood," is repealed.
     3  Section 3.  Effective date.
     4     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
