                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of November 24, 2004 (P.L.1270, No.153),
     2     entitled "An act providing for the Pennsylvania Amber Alert
     3     System; authorizing and directing the Pennsylvania State
     4     Police to establish and maintain the Pennsylvania Amber Alert
     5     System; assessing costs; and providing for immunity and
     6     penalties," further providing for the Pennsylvania Amber
     7     Alert System.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  Section 1 of the act of November 24, 2004
    11  (P.L.1270, No.153), entitled "An act providing for the
    12  Pennsylvania Amber Alert System; authorizing and directing the
    13  Pennsylvania State Police to establish and maintain the
    14  Pennsylvania Amber Alert System; assessing costs; and providing
    15  for immunity and penalties," is amended to read:
    16  Section 1.  Pennsylvania Amber Alert System established.
    17     The Pennsylvania State Police shall establish and maintain
    18  the Pennsylvania Amber Alert System to assist in the recovery of
    19  abducted children through prompt notification to the general
    20  public and appropriate law enforcement authorities. The system

     1  shall include immediate notification of the public via public
     2  television and public radio stations which shall broadcast a
     3  photograph of the abducted child and other information that will
     4  assist in the recovery of the child. The Pennsylvania State
     5  Police shall establish such protocols and procedures as are
     6  necessary for the effective operation of this system and shall
     7  educate and inform local law enforcement agencies and the public
     8  with regard to its availability.
     9     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
