AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, further providing for special plates for recipients 3 of the Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Sections 1345 and 1346 of Title 75 of the 7 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read: 8 § 1345. Special plates for recipients of the Medal of Honor. 9 Upon application of any person who is a recipient or a 10 surviving spouse of a recipient of the Medal of Honor, the 11 department shall issue to such person a special registration 12 plate designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a 13 person who is a recipient or a surviving spouse of a recipient 14 of the Medal of Honor. The plate shall have a light blue 15 background interspersed with 13 white stars. The center of the 16 plate shall bear a golden bronze replica of the appropriate 17 medal. The initials of each recipient shall be embossed in red
1 to the left of the medal and the letters "CMH" (for 2 Congressional Medal of Honor) shall be embossed in red to the 3 right of the medal. 4 § 1346. Special plates for recipients of the Purple Heart. 5 Upon application of any person who is a recipient or the 6 surviving spouse of a recipient of the Purple Heart, the 7 department shall issue to such person a special registration 8 plate designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a 9 person who is a recipient or a surviving spouse of a recipient 10 of the Purple Heart. Only one special registration plate shall 11 be issued to a recipient or surviving spouse of a recipient of 12 the Purple Heart under this section. The special registration 13 may be used on a vehicle that is a truck with a registered gross 14 weight of not more than 9,000 pounds, a passenger car or a motor 15 home. A severely disabled veteran, as described in section 16 1342(a) (relating to veteran plates and placard), who is 17 qualified to receive a plate under this section may also elect 18 to receive a placard under section 1342(b). [The special 19 registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck 20 with a registered gross weight of not more than 9,000 pounds.] 21 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
