                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled,
     2     as amended, "An act relating to counties of the first, third,
     3     fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending,
     4     revising, consolidating and changing the laws relating
     5     thereto; relating to imposition of excise taxes by counties,
     6     including authorizing imposition of an excise tax on the
     7     rental of motor vehicles by counties of the first class; and
     8     providing for regional renaissance initiatives," further
     9     providing for requests for coroners' examinations and
    10     reports.

    11     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    12  hereby enacts as follows:
    13     Section 1.  Section 1236.1 of the act of August 9, 1955
    14  (P.L.323, No.130), known as The County Code, added November 29,
    15  1990 (P.L.602, No.152), is amended to read:
    16     Section 1236.1.  Requests for Examinations and Reports.--(a)
    17  Requests for examinations or other professional services by
    18  other counties or persons may be complied with at the discretion
    19  of the coroner pursuant to guidelines established by the county
    20  commissioners.
    21     (b)  A set of fees and charges for such examinations or


     1  professional services shall be established by the coroner,
     2  subject to approval by the county commissioners, and shall be
     3  accounted for and paid to the county treasurer pursuant to
     4  section 1760. Payment for examinations or professional services
     5  shall be the responsibility of the county or person requesting
     6  such services.
     7     (c)  The coroner may charge and collect a fee of up to one
     8  hundred dollars ($100) for each autopsy report, up to fifty
     9  dollars ($50) for each toxicology report, up to fifty dollars
    10  ($50) for each inquisition or coroner's report and such other
    11  fees as may be established from time to time for other reports
    12  and documents requested by nongovernmental agencies. The fees
    13  collected shall be accounted for and paid to the county
    14  treasurer pursuant to section 1760 and shall be used to defray
    15  the expenses involved in the county complying with the
    16  provisions of the act of March 2, 1988 (P.L.108, No.22),
    17  referred to as the Coroners' Education Board Law.
    18     (d)  Nothing in this act shall prohibit a coroner from
    19  disclosing official and unofficial records, reports, documents
    20  and investigative information to members of a domestic violence
    21  fatality review team established by a statutory provision which
    22  authorizes the team to investigate and analyze fatalities
    23  related to domestic violence.
    24     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
