A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of January 11 through 17, 2009, as 2 "Snowmobile Awareness Safety Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, The family sport of snowmobiling is enjoyed by more 4 than 40,000 men, women and children in this Commonwealth; and 5 WHEREAS, Snowmobiling represents a facet within this 6 Commonwealth's winter tourism industry, contributing 7 approximately $160,000,000 to the State's economy; and 8 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association and 9 the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources have joined 10 together to educate the snowmobiling public as to safe and 11 responsible snowmobiling for 39 years; and 12 WHEREAS, Employing responsible riding practices, such as 13 avoiding alcohol and operating at safe speeds, make this 14 Commonwealth's snowmobiling experience safe and enjoyable; 15 therefore be it 16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
1 week of January 11 through 17, 2009, as "Snowmobile Safety 2 Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives, in the interest 4 of safe and enjoyable snowmobiling, encourage all snowmobilers 5 to take advantage of snowmobile safety programs and through 6 their actions, and the example they provide, preserve and 7 enhance the family sport of snowmobiling.
