A RESOLUTION 1 Honoring the Baden Volunteer Fire Department of Beaver County on 2 its 100th anniversary. 3 WHEREAS, The Baden Volunteer Fire Department began on 4 Phillips Street in 1908 to serve the residents of Baden and 5 surrounding communities; and 6 WHEREAS, The Baden Volunteer Fire Department operated as a 7 single unit until 1910, during which time membership was divided 8 into three companies; and 9 WHEREAS, The original Baden Volunteer Fire Department 10 operated until World War I, at which time it became difficult to 11 recruit volunteers because of the war effort; and 12 WHEREAS, The Baden Volunteer Fire Department was reorganized 13 to its current form in 1920; and 14 WHEREAS, The Baden Volunteer Fire Department hosts a 15 "firematic" program in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of 16 America that allows those 14 years of age and older to begin a 17 career in fire service while being educated on fire service
1 procedures through a hands-on approach; and 2 WHEREAS, The 40 active members of the Baden Volunteer Fire 3 Department respond in a timely fashion to approximately 100 or 4 more incidents per year for the citizens of Baden and 5 surrounding communities; and 6 WHEREAS, The Baden Volunteer Fire Department looks forward to 7 its 100th anniversary and anticipates many more years of service 8 to the Baden community; and 9 WHEREAS, The Baden Volunteer Fire Department deserves to be 10 honored by this legislative body for its outstanding service and 11 commitment to protecting its citizens; therefore be it 12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the Baden 13 Volunteer Fire Department of Beaver County on its 100th 14 anniversary.
