           SEPTEMBER 18, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the supreme sacrifice of United States Army Private
     2     First Class Travis Zimmerman, who honorably gave his life in
     3     the line of duty in Baghdad, Iraq, on April 22, 2006.

     4     WHEREAS, United States Army Private First Class Travis
     5  Zimmerman, of New Berlinville, Berks County, gave his life in
     6  the courageous service of his country while on duty at an
     7  observation post in Baghdad, Iraq, on April 22, 2006; and
     8     WHEREAS, Pfc. Zimmerman was serving with the 101st Army
     9  Airborne in Iraq and was assigned to the Airborne's 2nd
    10  Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team at
    11  Fort Campbell; and
    12     WHEREAS, Although Pfc. Zimmerman had been in the Army less
    13  than a year, his valor and competence are attested to by the
    14  outstanding service medals he was awarded in that short time,
    15  including the Bronze Star, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army
    16  Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the National
    17  Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service
    18  Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the

     1  Overseas Service Ribbon and the Order of Purple Heart; and
     2     WHEREAS, Pfc. Zimmerman is fondly remembered by family and
     3  friends and is survived by his mother, Gail Camperson, and his
     4  father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Zimmerman; and
     5     WHEREAS, It is fitting for the House of Representatives to
     6  honor and pay respect to the life of this heroic young man who
     7  gave his life for this nation and in defense of freedom;
     8  therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the supreme
    10  sacrifice of United States Army Private First Class Travis
    11  Zimmerman, who honorably gave his life in the line of duty in
    12  Baghdad, Iraq, on April 22, 2006.
