A RESOLUTION 1 Directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to 2 conduct a study to determine the advantages and disadvantages 3 of establishing a four-day workweek for employees of the 4 Commonwealth. 5 WHEREAS, The rising cost of energy dictates the Commonwealth 6 search for practical ways to reduce its energy consumption; and 7 WHEREAS, This problem necessitates realistic and aggressive 8 solutions without which the already overburdened taxpayer will 9 be unfairly saddled with the cost of unnecessary energy 10 consumption; and 11 WHEREAS, Both state and local governments across the United 12 States have mandated four-day workweeks for their employees as a 13 cost-saving measure; and 14 WHEREAS, Fiscal and environmental benefits of a four-day 15 workweek for employees of the Commonwealth may be a fair and 16 reasonable solution for reducing the energy consumption of the 17 Commonwealth while providing substantial energy savings to the
1 taxpayer; therefore be it 2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the 3 Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to conduct a study to 4 determine the advantages and disadvantages of establishing a 5 four-day workweek for employees of the Commonwealth; and be it 6 further 7 RESOLVED, That the study include the fiscal impact of 8 establishing a four-day workweek for employees of the 9 Commonwealth; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That the committee report its findings to the House 11 of Representatives no later than six months after the adoption 12 of this resolution.
