A RESOLUTION
1 Congratulating the York County Economic Development Corporation
2 for 50 years of community service.
3 WHEREAS, The York County Economic Development Corporation
4 (YCEDC) was established in 1958 to attract new industry, promote
5 industrial development and create new jobs; and
6 WHEREAS, The year 2008 marks the celebration of 50 years of
7 service to York County by YCEDC; and
8 WHEREAS, YCEDC operated initially as York County Industrial
9 Development Corporation until 1999, when it was renamed the York
10 County Economic Development Corporation in order to reflect its
11 broader mission to serve as York County's leading resource for
12 facilitating economic development and to work with public and
13 private sectors to enhance the overall quality of life; and
14 WHEREAS, Since its inception, YCEDC has facilitated funding
15 in excess of $73 million toward an estimated 150 economic
1 development projects, creating and retaining more than 10,200
2 jobs throughout York County; and
3 WHEREAS, YCEDC has facilitated effective community and
4 business partnerships and collaboratives to further economic
5 progress in York County; and
6 WHEREAS, YCEDC has evolved its leadership role in economic
7 development to advance a positive vision for York County's
8 economic future; and
9 WHEREAS, YCEDC performs its duties with diligence,
10 professionalism and commitment to York County; and
11 WHEREAS, The observance of the 50th anniversary of YCEDC
12 provides a special time to express our appreciation and
13 gratitude to its employees, board members and members for their
14 work and dedication to York County's continued economic well-
15 being and quality of life; and
16 WHEREAS, YCEDC has had, and will continue to have, an immense
17 and lasting impact on York County; therefore be it
18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate and
19 commend the York County Economic Development Corporation for 50
20 years of service and economic development leadership on behalf
21 of the citizens of York County with heartfelt wishes for the
22 organization's continued success.
