        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 11, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the men and women of the Pennsylvania Army National
     2     Guard's 213th Area Support Group on a successful ten-month
     3     deployment in Iraq from July 2007 to April 2008.

     4     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Army National Guard's 213th Area
     5  Support Group successfully completed a ten-month deployment to
     6  Iraq from July 2007 to April 2008; and
     7     WHEREAS, With its long distinguished history and campaign
     8  ribbons from the Civil War, War with Spain, World War I and
     9  World War II, the 213th Area Support Group proved its mettle

     1  time and again on fields of battle in Meuse-Argonne, Champagne-
     2  Marne, Rhineland, Normandy and Afghanistan; and
     3     WHEREAS, The group also extended a helping hand time and
     4  again to the Commonwealth's citizens in time of flood, hurricane
     5  and blizzard; and
     6     WHEREAS, Under the command of Colonel Brian Leonhard and
     7  Command Sergeant Major Mike Wevodau, some 120 citizen-soldiers
     8  took off business suits and ties and put on combat uniforms and
     9  Kevlars to protect our interests abroad; and
    10     WHEREAS, Upholding the highest standards, the 213th Area
    11  Support Group served with distinction, dedication and honor; and
    12     WHEREAS, Managing the largest support hub in Iraq, they moved
    13  nearly 17 million pounds of goods and services throughout the
    14  combat zone; and
    15     WHEREAS, The 213th Area Support Group played a pivotal role
    16  in the now famous surge of United States forces into the region,
    17  supported stability and sustainment operations and enhanced the
    18  quality of life for both coalition forces and citizens of Iraq;
    19  and
    20     WHEREAS, During this deployment, the 213th Area Support Group
    21  distinguished itself by extraordinary dedication to mission
    22  accomplishment and the protection and care of its individual
    23  soldiers; and
    24     WHEREAS, In supporting this strategic hub, they exceeded all
    25  standards and expectations; therefore be it
    26     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the men and
    27  women of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard's 213th Area
    28  Support Group and congratulate them on a mission well done and
    29  is furthermore grateful for their safe return; and be it further
    30     RESOLVED, That their dedicated and selfless service ensures

     1  the democratic ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of
     2  happiness are protected for all Americans.
