        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 10, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
     2     sacrifice of Special Agent Staff Sergeant David A. Wieger of
     3     the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations,
     4     who valiantly lost his life while in brave service to our
     5     country on November 1, 2007.

     6     WHEREAS, While returning from a meeting with sources for an
     7  intelligence investigation, Special Agent Staff Sergeant David
     8  A. Wieger and two other men were killed when their convoy hit an
     9  improvised explosive device near the Balad Air Base, north of
    10  Baghdad, where they were stationed; and


     1     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Wieger, who was on his first tour of duty
     2  in Iraq, was a Special Agent assigned to the Air Force Office of
     3  Special Investigations, where he performed reconnaissance
     4  missions and gathered combat intelligence; and
     5     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Wieger, of North Huntingdon, Westmoreland
     6  County, was a 1997 graduate of Norwin High School and later
     7  attended Westmoreland County Community College, where he studied
     8  criminal justice; and
     9     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Wieger enlisted in the United States Air
    10  Force in 1998, attended basic training at Lackland Air Force
    11  Base in Texas and reenlisted with the Air Force after his
    12  initial six-year commitment had been fulfilled; and
    13     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Wieger, who was 28 years of age, loved
    14  spending time with his friends and family and is survived by his
    15  mother and father, Lori and Michael Wieger and a brother,
    16  Michael Wieger; and
    17     WHEREAS, Because of his courage, patriotism and dedication to
    18  the United States of America, Staff Sgt. Wieger has been awarded
    19  the Bronze Star Medal; therefore be it
    20     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
    21  and extend condolences for the supreme sacrifice of Special
    22  Agent Staff Sergeant David A. Wieger, who died on November 1,
    23  2007, in Iraq, while in the brave service of our country; and be
    24  it further
    25     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    26  the parents of Special Agent Staff Sergeant David A. Wieger, Mr.
    27  and Mrs. Michael Wieger.
