        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 14, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
     2     sacrifice made by Specialist Luke S. Runyan who lost his life
     3     in service to our country in Iraq on February 17, 2008.

     4     WHEREAS, 21-year-old Spring Grove Area High School graduate
     5  U.S. Army Spc. Luke S. Runyan was serving his country in Iraq
     6  when he was killed in action on February 17, 2008; and
     7     WHEREAS, Spc. Runyan who was the squad leader of a group of
     8  soldiers who were killed in action in the Diyala province that
     9  Sunday when he and another member of his group were fatally


     1  wounded in an ambush; and
     2     WHEREAS, Spc. Runyan was originally deployed in January 2007
     3  and re-enlisted for another three-year tour late last year; and
     4     WHEREAS, Spc. Runyan was posthumously promoted to the rank of
     5  corporal and awarded the Bronze Star Medal with valor for
     6  distinguishing himself through heroic achievement and service;
     7  therfore be it
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives pay tribute and
     9  honor to the memory of Specialist Luke S. Runyan with gratitude
    10  for his courage, leadership and selflessness in fighting for
    11  freedom on behalf of the citizens of this nation and
    12  Commonwealth; and be it further
    13     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    14  the family of Specialist Luke S. Runyan.
