        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 7, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Celebrating May 13, 2008, as "Liberty USO Day" in Pennsylvania.

     2     WHEREAS, The Liberty USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New
     3  Jersey, Inc., with commitment and unwavering loyalty, has served
     4  the armed forces and their families since 1941; and
     5     WHEREAS, Liberty USO's innovative family and individual
     6  service member programs and services are delivered 365 days per
     7  year by volunteers at military installations and other service
     8  centers throughout this Commonwealth and southern New Jersey;
     9  and
    10     WHEREAS, Thousands of Commonwealth soldiers, marines, airmen


     1  and sailors and their families have benefited through United
     2  Service Organizations (USO) programs such as Families of the
     3  Fallen Weekend, Comfort Bear, Hero Kids Summer Camp, Project
     4  Einstein and United Through Reading programs, among others; and
     5     WHEREAS, Hundreds of USO volunteers provide thousands of
     6  hours of service each year at its locations at the Philadelphia
     7  International Airport, Willow Grove and Fort Indiantown Gap, as
     8  well as southern New Jersey locations; and
     9     WHEREAS, Those devoted volunteers help with hospitality for
    10  returning and deploying troops and provide support for a variety
    11  of free services and programs; and
    12     WHEREAS, Liberty USO supports all branches of the military,
    13  including the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps,
    14  Coast Guard and the National Guard and Reserves; therefore be it
    15     RESOLVED, That on May 13, 2008, the grateful members of the
    16  House of Representatives salute Liberty USO for its almost
    17  seven-decade record of steadfast and faithful support and
    18  celebrate this day as "Liberty USO Day" in Pennsylvania.
