        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 10, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of May 12 through 18, 2008, as "Salvation
     2     Army Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, A love for God and a desire to help others is the
     4  motivation behind the men and women of the Salvation Army; and
     5     WHEREAS, The Salvation Army in this Commonwealth provides
     6  much more than spiritual counseling and basic human necessities
     7  to the needy and hurting on a daily basis; and
     8     WHEREAS, The Salvation Army serves as a symbol of compassion,
     9  but more so an active participant in the provision of services
    10  to thousands of men, women and children; and


     1     WHEREAS, The Salvation Army has been providing these programs
     2  to residents for more than 125 years; and
     3     WHEREAS, The Salvation Army provides its services to people
     4  in need without regard to race, color, creed, sex or age;
     5  therefore be it
     6     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
     7  week of May 12 through 18, 2008, as "Salvation Army Week" in
     8  Pennsylvania and commend this fine organization for its
     9  continued dedication to the needs of the people of this
    10  Commonwealth.
