A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the week of February 4 through 8, 2008, as "National 2 School Counseling Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, School counselors are employed in public and private 4 schools to help students reach their full potential; and 5 WHEREAS, School counselors are actively committed to helping 6 students explore their abilities, strengths, interests and 7 talents as these traits relate to career awareness and 8 development; and 9 WHEREAS, School counselors help parents focus on ways to 10 further the educational, personal and social growth of their 11 children; and 12 WHEREAS, School counselors work with teachers and other 13 educators to help students explore their potential and set 14 realistic goals for themselves; and
1 WHEREAS, School counselors seek to identify and utilize 2 community resources that can enhance and complement 3 comprehensive school counseling programs and help students 4 become productive members of society; and 5 WHEREAS, Comprehensive developmental school counseling 6 programs are considered an integral part of the educational 7 process that enables all students to achieve success in school; 8 therefore be it 9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 10 week of February 4 through 8, 2008, as "National School 11 Counseling Week" in Pennsylvania.
