        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           FEBRUARY 14, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing the week of February 17 through 23, 2008, as
     2     "Engineers' Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Engineers are highly trained professionals who
     4  utilize their scientific knowledge and technical skills in
     5  creative and innovative ways to fulfill the essential needs and
     6  specific interests of our society; and
     7     WHEREAS, These dedicated professionals face the major
     8  technological challenges of our time, such as rebuilding towns
     9  devastated by natural disasters, cleaning up and reclaiming our
    10  environment and assuring safe, clean and efficient sources of
    11  energy; and
    12     WHEREAS, There are many different types of engineering
    13  specialties, including agricultural, mechanical, industrial and


     1  chemical engineering, all of which serve a vital role in the
     2  everyday lives of all residents of this Commonwealth; and
     3     WHEREAS, Professional engineers remain dedicated to investing
     4  in our future, from designing information systems that will
     5  propel our nation to unprecedented success in the 21st century,
     6  to encouraging young mathematics and science students to realize
     7  the practical power of their knowledge; and
     8     WHEREAS, Citizens and communities look to our knowledgeable
     9  and skilled engineers to meet the challenges of tomorrow as the
    10  vast possibilities of the future unfold before us; therefore be
    11  it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
    13  week of February 17 through 23, 2008, as "Engineers' Week" in
    14  Pennsylvania.
