           HELM, HENNESSEY, HERSHEY, HESS, HORNAMAN, KOTIK, LEVDANSKY,
           MANTZ, MARKOSEK, McILHATTAN, MENSCH, MILLARD, MILNE, MOUL,

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON GAME AND FISHERIES, JANUARY 14, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Urging governmental agencies of Pennsylvania and its political
     2     subdivisions to create more space where persons can hunt,
     3     fish and boat.

     4     WHEREAS, The outdoor recreational activities within
     5  Pennsylvania help support more than 100,000 jobs and provide
     6  significant economic benefits to this Commonwealth; and
     7     WHEREAS, The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the American
     8  Sportfishing Association estimate that fishing and fishing-
     9  related activities generate more than $1.6 billion for
    10  Pennsylvania's economy each year; and
    11     WHEREAS, Because fishing, boating and other outdoor
    12  activities associated with our fisheries, lakes, rivers and
    13  streams are vital components of Pennsylvania's tourism industry,
    14  all of Pennsylvania benefits from the economic benefits of
    15  fishing and boating; and


     1     WHEREAS, In order to increase these outdoor recreational
     2  activities, State agencies that manage public lands, outdoor
     3  recreation, wildlife or our waterways should facilitate and
     4  enhance hunting and boating opportunities and the management of
     5  game species and their habitats; and
     6     WHEREAS, President Bush, Governor Rendell and wildlife
     7  conservationists have urged governmental agencies to look for
     8  additional spaces for hunters to hunt and for fishermen to boat
     9  and fish; therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all
    11  governmental agencies of Pennsylvania and its political
    12  subdivisions to create more space where persons can hunt, fish
    13  and boat.
