A RESOLUTION
1 Declaring December 17 through 23, 2007, as "Dream Come True
2 Week" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, There can be no greater tragedy than the potential
4 loss of a child due to a terminal illness; and
5 WHEREAS, Granting a child who is terminally, seriously or
6 chronically ill a chance to fulfill a dream is a philanthropic
7 endeavor that is worthy of great commendation; and
8 WHEREAS, Dream Come True is a nonprofit organization whose
9 goal is to provide children who have a terminal, serious or
10 chronic illness a chance to fulfill their dreams; and
11 WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1984, Dream Come True has
12 fulfilled more than 750 dreams, and the organization currently
13 fulfills 50 dreams a year; and
14 WHEREAS, Dream Come True requests usually fall into the three
1 categories of trips, contact with celebrities and special gifts
2 such as computers, shopping sprees or a redecorated bedroom and
3 are fulfilled using no government funding but only voluntary
4 donations; and
5 WHEREAS, Organizations such as Dream Come True that
6 demonstrate the caring nature of the citizens of this
7 Commonwealth deserve special recognition by all Pennsylvanians;
8 therefore be it
9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives declare December
10 17 through 23, 2007, as "Dream Come True Week" in Pennsylvania;
11 and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
13 Dream Come True, P.O. Box 21167, Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania
14 18002-1167.
