        INTRODUCED BY MARSHALL, BRENNAN, CLYMER, DENLINGER, DONATUCCI,
           FLECK, GEORGE, GRUCELA, HELM, HERSHEY, M. KELLER, KILLION,
           MAJOR, MANTZ, MILLARD, MOYER, PALLONE, PASHINSKI, PHILLIPS,
           RAMALEY, READSHAW, REICHLEY, SCAVELLO, SONNEY, R. STEVENSON,
           VULAKOVICH, WALKO AND GODSHALL, DECEMBER 11, 2007

        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           DECEMBER 11, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing the Boston Red Sox as the champions of the 2007
     2     Major League Baseball World Series and congratulating Terry
     3     Francona as manager.

     4     WHEREAS, The Boston Red Sox defeated the Colorado Rockies in
     5  a four-game sweep in the 2007 Major League Baseball World
     6  Series; and
     7     WHEREAS, The Red Sox are managed by Terry Francona, a
     8  graduate of New Brighton High School in Beaver County; and
     9     WHEREAS, Having gone 86 years without a World Series title,
    10  the Red Sox have won two of the last four championships under
    11  Mr. Francona's guidance; and
    12     WHEREAS, Mr. Francona is the first manager in baseball
    13  history to win his first eight World Series games; and
    14     WHEREAS, Mr. Francona now has a 22-6 record in the
    15  postseason, a .786 winning percentage, which is the best record
    16  of any manager in major league history; therefore be it


     1     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives convey
     2  congratulations to the Boston Red Sox and Pennsylvania native
     3  Terry Francona on the occasion of the 2007 Major League Baseball
     4  World Series victory.
