        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 30, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the
     2     Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

     3     WHEREAS, In 2007, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in
     4  Washington, D.C., observes the 25th anniversary of its
     5  dedication; and
     6     WHEREAS, The memorial commemorates the sacrifice of more than
     7  58,000 men and women who lost their lives during the Vietnam
     8  War; and
     9     WHEREAS, The memorial honors the sacrifice of the 153,303 men
    10  and women who were wounded during the war; and
    11     WHEREAS, The memorial honors the more than 3,000,000 men and
    12  women who served in the United States Armed Forces in Southeast


     1  Asia; and
     2     WHEREAS, The memorial has served as a powerful force for
     3  national healing; and
     4     WHEREAS, More than 4,000,000 people visit the memorial each
     5  year to pay tribute to lost loved ones and remember the
     6  sacrifice of those who served the United States during the
     7  Vietnam War; and
     8     WHEREAS, The memorial is a testament to the dedication of the
     9  private individuals and corporations that raised $8,400,000 to
    10  build the memorial; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
    12  25th anniversary of the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans
    13  Memorial; and be it further
    14     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
    15  service of the men and women who were members of the United
    16  States Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and honor the
    17  sacrifice of the men and women who lost their lives during the
    18  Vietnam War.
