        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 26, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating November 14, 2007, as "Leukemia, Lymphoma and
     2     Myeloma Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma will claim the lives
     4  of an estimated 2,820 people in Pennsylvania this year; and
     5     WHEREAS, The National Cancer Institute of the National
     6  Institutes of Health is committed to the elimination of
     7  suffering and death due to cancer by the year 2015; and
     8     WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is similarly committed
     9  to the eradication of blood cancers and supports the treatment
    10  of people in this Commonwealth who suffer from them; and
    11     WHEREAS, The House of Representatives will continue efforts

     1  to provide support at all levels for research and other efforts
     2  that will lead to a complete cure for leukemia, lymphoma and
     3  myeloma; therefore be it
     4     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
     5  November 14, 2007, as "Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma Awareness
     6  Day" in Pennsylvania to enhance the understanding of blood
     7  cancers, encourage participation in voluntary activities to
     8  support education programs and support the funding of research
     9  programs to find a cure for blood cancers.
