                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the Pittsburgh Steelers on the occasion of their 75th
     2     season.

     3     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers were founded on July 8,
     4  1933, by Arthur Joseph Rooney; and
     5     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers are the fifth oldest
     6  franchise in the National Football League (NFL); and
     7     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers, originally named the
     8  Pittsburgh Pirates, are a true Pittsburgh team; and
     9     WHEREAS, As Steelers franchise owners, the late Arthur J.
    10  Rooney, Sr., also known as the "Chief," Dan Rooney, Art Rooney


     1  II and the entire Rooney family have been loyal to Pittsburgh
     2  and have reflected the city's proud and humble work ethic since
     3  the team's founding; and
     4     WHEREAS, During their 75-year history, the Pittsburgh
     5  Steelers have appeared in six Super Bowl games; and
     6     WHEREAS, In those six Super Bowl appearances, the Pittsburgh
     7  Steelers have won five Super Bowl rings, in 1974, 1975, 1978,
     8  1979 and 2005; and
     9     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers have become the first
    10  American Football Conference Team to win 500 games; and
    11     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers have produced 19 members of
    12  the Pro Football Hall of Fame; and
    13     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers are a beloved part of the
    14  fabric of the Pittsburgh Region with fans located in all 50
    15  states and around the world; and
    16     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers franchise owners have played
    17  leadership roles in establishing many league policies that have
    18  contributed to the steady and continued growth of the NFL; and
    19     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Rooney family have
    20  always shown a commitment to Pittsburgh's charitable and civic
    21  affairs and continue to make significant contributions to the
    22  Greater Pittsburgh Region; therefore be it
    23     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
    24  Pittsburgh Steelers and the Rooney family on their 75th season.
