        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 22, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of November 2007 as "Pennsylvania Epilepsy
     2     Awareness Month."

     3     WHEREAS, Epilepsy, often thought of as a single syndrome,
     4  actually comprises a family of more than 40 syndromes that
     5  affect 2.7 million people in the United States and an estimated
     6  120,000 Pennsylvanians; and
     7     WHEREAS, Epilepsy strikes most often among the very young and
     8  the very old, although a person can get epilepsy at any age; and
     9     WHEREAS, The number of cases in elderly persons is beginning
    10  to soar as baby boomers approach retirement age; and

     1     WHEREAS, The Epilepsy Foundation Western/Central and the
     2  Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania are conducting
     3  extensive outreach programs to educate the general public about
     4  epilepsy; therefore be it
     5     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
     6  month of November 2007 as "Pennsylvania Epilepsy Awareness
     7  Month" in order to bring further attention to epilepsy and to
     8  recognize the courage and commitment of Pennsylvanians affected
     9  by epilepsy and their caregivers and associates; and be it
    10  further
    11     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    12  the Epilepsy Foundation Western/Central Pennsylvania and the
    13  Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania, as follows: Judith
