        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 18, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of October 21 through 27, 2007, as "Child
     2     Death Review Recognition Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The death of a child is a tragic event; and
     4     WHEREAS, The death of a child is a great loss to family,
     5  friends and community and often represents unjust sufferings and
     6  unfulfilled promises; and
     7     WHEREAS, It is known that many child deaths are preventable;
     8  and
     9     WHEREAS, Child Death Review is a process that works to
    10  understand child deaths in order to prevent harm to other
    11  children; and
    12     WHEREAS, There exists in 62 of the 67 counties of this

     1  Commonwealth a network of professionals organized under the
     2  Child Death Review Team; and
     3     WHEREAS, These professionals review child deaths and child
     4  safety issues in their communities and work on prevention
     5  strategies to prevent future child deaths; and
     6     WHEREAS, Child Death Review teams in Pennsylvania have made a
     7  difference in the lives of children since 1991; and
     8     WHEREAS, Through the collaboration of Child Death Review
     9  teams and SIDS of Pennsylvania, there now exists a Cribs for
    10  Kids program in many parts of this Commonwealth; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
    12  week of October 21 through 27, 2007, as "Child Death Review
    13  Recognition Week" in Pennsylvania.
