        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 15, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Applauding the Pennsylvania State Agricultural Land Preservation
     2     Board for its record of approving the preservation of 50,000
     3     acres of Berks County farmland.

     4     WHEREAS, Berks County ranks first in this Commonwealth in the
     5  number of acres of preserved farmland under the Agricultural
     6  Conservation Easement Program; and
     7     WHEREAS, In cooperation with the Berks County Agricultural
     8  Land Preservation Board, the Pennsylvania State Agricultural
     9  Land Preservation Board has committed more than $100 million to
    10  protect some of the most productive nonirrigated cropland in the
    11  United States; and
    12     WHEREAS, Farm owners have contributed an additional $23
    13  million in easement value; and
    14     WHEREAS, The House of Representatives proudly recognizes the
    15  farmland preservation efforts of Berks County landowners in
    16  conjunction with county and State officials; and

     1     WHEREAS, The House of Representatives proudly recognizes the
     2  unique agricultural heritage of this Commonwealth; therefore be
     3  it
     4     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives applaud the
     5  Pennsylvania State Agricultural Land Preservation Board for its
     6  record of approving the preservation of 50,000 acres of Berks
     7  County farmland.
