        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 16, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing our State song and observing the week of November 25
     2     through 30, 2007, as "Sing Pennsylvania Week" in
     3     Pennsylvania.

     4     WHEREAS, The act of November 29, 1990 (P.L.598, No.150),
     5  referred to as the Official State Song Act, adopted the song
     6  "Pennsylvania" as the official State song of this Commonwealth;
     7  and
     8     WHEREAS, This song was written and scored by Eddie Khoury and
     9  Ronnie Bonner; and
    10     WHEREAS, The lyrics of the song are as follows:
    11                           "PENNSYLVANIA"
    12  Verse 1
    13         Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania,
    14             Mighty is your name,
    15         Steeped in glory and tradition,


     1             Object of acclaim.
     2         Where brave men fought the foe of freedom,
     3             Tyranny decried,
     4         'Til the bell of independence
     5             filled the countryside.
     6  Chorus
     7         Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania,
     8             May your future be,
     9         filled with honor everlasting
    10             as your history.

    26     WHEREAS, Since its adoption, few Pennsylvanians have become
    27  aware that this Commonwealth has an official song and even fewer
    28  can recognize and sing it; therefore be it
    29     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize our
    30  State song and observe the week of November 25 through 30, 2007,
