A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing the week of October 14 through 20, 2007, as "Credit
2 Union Week" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, Credit unions are individual, independent
4 cooperatives founded by people working together toward economic
5 advancement, uniting people seeking a way to improve their
6 future; and
7 WHEREAS, Credit unions call for the pooling of personal
8 resources and leadership abilities for the good of the
9 cooperative, provide low-cost financial services to their
10 members, encourage a regular habit of saving so those in need
11 may borrow and foster the desire to repay loans in order for
12 members to have access to credit when it is required; and
1 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania currently has 519 credit unions
2 empowering people to improve their economic situations by
3 serving the financial needs of 3.37 million members associated
4 through State, local, regional and international organizations
5 sharing the same commitment to serving credit union members; and
6 WHEREAS, Credit unions encourage and sponsor activities to
7 promote the charitable acts of their members; and
8 WHEREAS, The selfless efforts of volunteers organized through
9 credit unions have benefited many worthwhile causes throughout
10 this Commonwealth and beyond; therefore be it
11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
12 week of October 14 through 20, 2007, as "Credit Union Week" in
13 Pennsylvania; and be it further
14 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
15 the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association at 4309 N. Front St.,
16 P.O. Box 60007, Harrisburg, PA 17106.
