           SEPTEMBER 25, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Congratulating George Bedwick on his retirement after thirty
     2     years of service with the House of Representatives.

     3     WHEREAS, George Bedwick was hired by the Pennsylvania House
     4  of Representatives on March 16, 1977, as a research analyst for
     5  the House Mines and Energy Committee under Representative
     6  Bernard O'Brien; and
     7     WHEREAS, A native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Mr. Bedwick
     8  is a 1965 graduate of Grand Army of the Republic Memorial High
     9  School, a 1969 graduate of King's College and a 1972 graduate of
    10  Dickinson Law School; and
    11     WHEREAS, As a major in the United States Army Reserve, Mr.
    12  Bedwick served his country in Operation Desert Storm; and
    13     WHEREAS, Mr. Bedwick also served as Executive Director of the
    14  Liquor Control Committee and the Business and Commerce Committee
    15  under Representative Fred Taylor from 1979 to 1992; and
    16     WHEREAS, From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Bedwick served as director
    17  under former Majority Leader and Majority Whip Ivan Itkin and


     1  legal counsel for former Minority Whip Mike Veon from 1999 to
     2  2006; and
     3     WHEREAS, Mr. Bedwick currently serves as legal counsel to
     4  Majority Whip Keith McCall; and
     5     WHEREAS, As an expert in the gaming field, Mr. Bedwick was
     6  instrumental in crafting the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development
     7  and Gaming Act; and
     8     WHEREAS, Mr. Bedwick will retire September 25, 2007, after 30
     9  years of service with the House of Representatives; and
    10     WHEREAS, Mr. Bedwick has earned the admiration and respect
    11  from his colleagues and the members of the House of
    12  Representatives for his kindness, dedication, enthusiasm,
    13  professionalism and hard work; and
    14     WHEREAS, Mr. Bedwick will be deeply missed by all who have
    15  had the pleasure of working with him during his service in the
    16  House of Representatives; therefore be it
    17     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate
    18  George Bedwick on his retirement from the House of
    19  Representatives; and be it further
    20     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    21  George Bedwick.
