A RESOLUTION 1 Congratulating the Borough of Kingston on the 150th anniversary 2 of its incorporation. 3 WHEREAS, A bill providing for incorporation of limited land 4 around Kingston Corners was introduced in the House of 5 Representatives in 1831 but failed despite the best efforts of 6 supporters; and 7 WHEREAS, The construction and operation of the Lackawanna and 8 Bloomsburg Railroad increased the population and brought other 9 changes; and 10 WHEREAS, Seeking the benefits of incorporation for fellow 11 residents and future residents, 43 hardworking and dedicated 12 settlers signed a petition to incorporate; and 13 WHEREAS, The Borough of Kingston was incorporated by court 14 decree on November 23, 1857; and
1 WHEREAS, The Borough of Kingston is a community rich in 2 tradition, pride and community spirit and unified in the cause 3 of improving the quality of life for future generations; 4 therefore be it 5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the 6 Borough of Kingston on the 150th anniversary of its 7 incorporation.
