A RESOLUTION 1 Congratulating the Borough of West Pittston on the 150th 2 anniversary of its incorporation. 3 WHEREAS, On August 19, 1857, 55 freeholders made application 4 to the judges of the court of quarter sessions of the County of 5 Luzerne to incorporate the Borough of West Pittston; and 6 WHEREAS, On November 23, 1857, the recommendation of the 7 grand jury having been confirmed, the court incorporated the 8 Borough of West Pittston; and 9 WHEREAS, This new borough offered a progressive yet genteel 10 lifestyle, attracting new residents from all walks of life, 11 creating a community rich in diversity, culture and tolerance; 12 and 13 WHEREAS, The Borough of West Pittston quickly became known as 14 the Garden Village due to its many wide, tree-lined streets and
1 large lots with sweeping lawns, fulfilling the ideal of gracious 2 and family-friendly living; and 3 WHEREAS, The Borough of West Pittston has been home to 4 various industries while still retaining its original 5 residential charm, establishing itself as a quintessential 6 American community; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the 8 Borough of West Pittston on the 150th anniversary of its 9 incorporation.
