        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 18, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating June 22, 2007, as "Junior Angus Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The Junior Activities Department of the American
     4  Angus Association was started in 1956; and
     5     WHEREAS, Its original purpose was to encourage young people
     6  to become involved with Angus steer and heifer projects and to
     7  help them do a better job with their projects; and
     8     WHEREAS, Today that purpose has been expanded to include more
     9  projects and programs that help juniors develop their skills and
    10  character; and
    11     WHEREAS, There are presently more than 11,000 active junior
    12  members from all parts of the United States and Canada; and
    13     WHEREAS, There are 65 state, regional and local Junior Angus

     1  Associations active throughout the United States; and
     2     WHEREAS, These Junior Angus Associations, with the assistance
     3  of the American Angus Association, meet regularly, sponsor shows
     4  and field days and take an active part in Angus business and
     5  promotion of the breed; and
     6     WHEREAS, Each year more junior members join the American
     7  Angus Association than any other cattle organization; and
     8     WHEREAS, The local Junior Angus Associations are a strong
     9  foundation for expansion and improvement of the Angus breed in
    10  the future; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate June
    12  22, 2007, as "Junior Angus Day" in Pennsylvania.
