        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 29, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of June 9 through 16, 2007, as "Big 33
     2     Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The 50th Annual Big 33 Football Classic between
     4  Pennsylvania and Ohio is taking place in Hersheypark Stadium on
     5  June 16, 2007; and
     6     WHEREAS, A great source of pride to this Commonwealth, the
     7  Big 33 Football Classic represents the best in our youths, their
     8  commitment to excellence and their bright promise; and
     9     WHEREAS, The Big 33 Football Classic showcases Pennsylvania
    10  students' athletic abilities and their desire to participate in
    11  an event which has raised more than $3.5 million for academic


     1  scholarships for deserving high school students as well as
     2  charitable funds for other worthy organizations since 1985; and
     3     WHEREAS, More than just a football game, the Big 33 Football
     4  Classic enables players to reach out to "buddies" with special
     5  needs as well as to various charitable organizations throughout
     6  this Commonwealth; and
     7     WHEREAS, The Big 33 Football Classic has made a difference in
     8  the education of the students involved, with coaches demanding
     9  excellence in the classroom as well as on the field; and
    10     WHEREAS, Every Super Bowl has had at least one participant
    11  who is an alumnus of the Big 33 Football Classic, thereby
    12  inspiring the youths of this Commonwealth to continue to excel
    13  in football; therefore be it
    14     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
    15  week of June 9 through 16, 2007, as "Big 33 Week" in
    16  Pennsylvania.
