A RESOLUTION
1 Designating May 31, 2007, as "Pennsylvania Transit Workers
2 Awareness Day."
3 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is proud to recognize
4 the contributions of those persons who play an integral role in
5 the daily functioning of our Commonwealth; and
6 WHEREAS, Transit workers provide vital services to users of
7 mass transportation on a daily basis in the City of Pittsburgh
8 and elsewhere in this Commonwealth; and
9 WHEREAS, Transit workers are charged with various significant
10 responsibilities every day; and
11 WHEREAS, These responsibilities include, but are not limited
12 to, focusing on maintenance to ensure that the Commonwealth's
13 public transit system continuously operates safely and
14 dependably; and
15 WHEREAS, Transit workers must pursue vigorous and continuous
1 training due to increasing technology changes that produce
2 safer, cleaner-running, more reliable and more comfortable
3 vehicles; therefore be it
4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 31,
5 2007, as "Pennsylvania Transit Workers Awareness Day"; and be it
6 further
7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
8 the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85, 1613 Penn Avenue,
9 Pittsburgh PA 15222-4322.
