INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 18, 2007
A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the month of May 2007 as "National Preservation 2 Month" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, In 1971 the National Trust for Historic Preservation 4 established "Preservation Week" as an opportunity to spotlight 5 grass-roots preservation efforts around the country directed at 6 saving historic properties for the enjoyment of future 7 generations; and 8 WHEREAS, Since then the National Trust for Historic 9 Preservation has observed the event annually; and 10 WHEREAS, "Preservation Week" has grown as an annual 11 celebration and is celebrated by small towns and big cities with 12 events ranging from tours, reenactments and rallies to black-tie 13 balls and state and local competitions; and
1 WHEREAS, The success of "Preservation Week" has moved the 2 National Trust for Historic Preservation to extend the 3 celebration into a monthlong event during May 2007 in order to 4 bring the issue of historic preservation to the forefront of 5 Americans' daily lives by emphasizing the vital importance of 6 protecting our nation's history; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 8 month of May 2007 as "Preservation Month" in Pennsylvania.
