A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing April 26, 2007, as "Workers Memorial Day" in 2 Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Every year in the United States an enormous number 4 of workers are killed as a result of workplace injuries and 5 occupational diseases; and 6 WHEREAS, Tens of thousands of American workers are 7 permanently disabled, and millions are injured or made ill; and 8 WHEREAS, The Greater Wilkes-Barre Labor Council and concerned 9 citizens hope to prevent further tragedies by locally observing 10 "Workers Memorial Day" on April 26, 2007, as a day to remember 11 the victims of workplace deaths, injuries and disease; and 12 WHEREAS, The observance of "Workers Memorial Day" highlights 13 efforts to seek stronger safety and health protections, better 14 standards and enforcement and fair and just compensation for 15 workers; therefore be it 16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize April 17 26, 2007, as "Workers Memorial Day" in Pennsylvania and commend
