A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of May 21 through 25, 2007, as "Charcot- 2 Marie-Tooth Association Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) is the most common 4 inherited neurological disorder, affecting approximately 150,000 5 persons in the United States; and 6 WHEREAS, The Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA) in 7 Chester, Pennsylvania, has educated and served this Commonwealth 8 for more than 20 years; and 9 WHEREAS, While there is no cure for CMT, physical therapy 10 improves the muscle strength and endurance of persons with CMT; 11 and 12 WHEREAS, The CMTA is leading the charge for educational 13 programs dedicated to training doctors at medical colleges in 14 this Commonwealth to identify and treat CMT symptoms; and
1 WHEREAS, The CMTA is celebrating "CMT Patients Day" at the 2 Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, 3 Pennsylvania, on May 23, 2007; therefore be it 4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 5 week of May 21 through 25, 2007, as "Charcot-Marie-Tooth 6 Association Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania.
