        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           APRIL 23, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the Borough of North Catasauqua, Northampton County, on
     2     the 100th anniversary of its incorporation and designating
     3     June 11, 2007, as "Borough of North Catasauqua Day" in
     4     Pennsylvania.

     5     WHEREAS, The Borough of North Catasauqua, Northampton County,
     6  was incorporated by court decree on June 11, 1907, in response
     7  to residents who wanted local government that was responsive to
     8  their needs; and
     9     WHEREAS, In the years ensuing its incorporation, the borough
    10  established a responsive local government, numerous parks and
    11  other recreational facilities, a fire department, a police
    12  department and a public works department, and it improved
    13  transportation facilities and supported public education; and
    14     WHEREAS, The 2000 census recorded a population of 2,814 and


     1  1,136 households; and
     2     WHEREAS, The borough celebrates its centennial with yearlong
     3  festivities beginning on May 20, 2007, at the Opening Ceremony
     4  and Borough Open House from noon to 5 p.m.; and
     5     WHEREAS, Other celebratory activities include a golf
     6  tournament and a four-day carnival; and
     7     WHEREAS, Residents of North Catasauqua have a tradition of
     8  outstanding citizenship and deserve the congratulations of this
     9  legislative body; therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the Borough
    11  of North Catasauqua, Northampton County, on the 100th
    12  anniversary of its incorporation on June 11, 1907; and be it
    13  further
    14     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate June
    15  11, 2007, as "Borough of North Catasauqua Day" in Pennsylvania.
