                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the centennial of the United Parcel Service of America,
     2     Inc. (UPS), and recognizing the contributions of UPS to the
     3     people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

     4     WHEREAS, On August 28, 2007, UPS is celebrating its 100th
     5  anniversary; and
     6     WHEREAS, UPS has served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  since 1938 and today employs more than 16,000 employees and
     8  operates 40 facilities across the State; and
     9     WHEREAS, Each day 136,000 citizens of the Commonwealth of
    10  Pennsylvania utilize UPS's express delivery and specialized
    11  transportation and logistics services; and
    12     WHEREAS, UPS delivers more than 800,000 packages every day to
    13  customers across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, connecting
    14  people, communities and businesses; and


     1     WHEREAS, UPS provides services which connect the people of
     2  the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to more than 200 countries
     3  through its expansive transportation network that truly
     4  synchronizes global commerce; and
     5     WHEREAS, UPS has contributed more than $9 million to
     6  philanthropic endeavors in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  since 1995, reflecting the company's emphasis on community
     8  service and citizenship; and
     9     WHEREAS, UPS will continue its substantial economic impact on
    10  the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and its focus on
    11  cultivating deep partnerships with the communities it serves;
    12  therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
    14  centennial of UPS and recognize the contributions of UPS to the
    15  people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and be it further
    16     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    17  UPS World Headquarters, 55 Glenlake Parkway NE, Atlanta GA
    18  30328.
