        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 29, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of April 20 through 27, 2007, as "Outdoor
     2     Heritage Week in Cambria and Somerset Counties."

     3     WHEREAS, Penn's Woods and its rich natural resources have
     4  served inhabitants for centuries, continually giving to help
     5  create this Commonwealth and the United States of America; and
     6     WHEREAS, This Commonwealth's forests regenerate to provide
     7  boundless commodities and luxuries; and
     8     WHEREAS, Citizens of this Commonwealth have learned through
     9  trial and error and continue to develop the means for
    10  sustainability; and
    11     WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has a proud practice of
    12  sustainable forestry; and
    13     WHEREAS, Community organizations, agencies and citizens have
    14  come together to recognize our rich outdoor heritage in Cambria

     1  County and Somerset County; and
     2     WHEREAS, Collaborative efforts of these organizations,
     3  agencies and citizens have resulted in numerous environmental
     4  service and learning opportunities in the two counties; and
     5     WHEREAS, The aim of these coordinated activities is to
     6  educate and inspire the next generation of citizens of this
     7  Commonwealth to conserve; and
     8     WHEREAS, Earth Day, National Arbor Day, National Wildlife
     9  Week and Global and National Youth Service Days occur during
    10  April; and
    11     WHEREAS, Children, the future leaders of the Commonwealth,
    12  will not only recognize that stewardship can be coupled with
    13  economic vitality but also realize that these two values must
    14  coincide in order to sustain and enhance quality of life for all
    15  persons in this Commonwealth and beyond; and
    16     WHEREAS, All citizens of this Commonwealth should be
    17  encouraged to participate in the educational and service
    18  activities occurring within Cambria County and Somerset County
    19  and to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of all persons
    20  who, working together, recognize, hone and preserve this
    21  heritage in this Commonwealth; therefore be it
    22     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
    23  week of April 20 through 27, 2007, as "Outdoor Heritage Week in
    24  Cambria and Somerset Counties."
